My grandma who lives in an old peoples home is a very proud independent woman.
She has one love in life and this is the soaps on television.
Every night when the soaps are on the TV, she and two of her friends, who also live in the home, get together in her room for their nightly fix.
One afternoon before an important episode the TV broke…being the independent type she decided it was time to buy a new telly, her two friends offered to pay part of the bill, as they watched every night with her.
After collecting their pensions they went into the second hand shop. They asked the salesman for the £30 coloured telly in the window. He collected £10 from each of the three ladies.
Just as he was about to enter the money into the cash register the shop owner appeared, “what are you selling?” He asked.
The salesman explained about the telly.
“There pensioners” said the owner "take £5 off the bill."
The salesman put the £25 in the till and took out £5 in coins…not being the most honest of people he placed two of the pound coins in his pocket.
With the £3 in coins he had left he gave the three ladies each £1 in change.
Now if the ladies all got a pound change out of their £10 they all paid £9 (agreed)
They paid 3 times £9 which is £27 plus the £2 in his pocket = £29
Where is the last pound???
If you know the answer already keep it to yourself…let the others work it out!!
